NAME: Locke.
PRONOUNS: He/him.
CONTACT: PM me!
ACTIVE TIMES/PACE: It varies as I work shifts, but I'm most commonly available from 8pm to 10:30pm GMT.
BRACKETS/PROSE: Brackets are preferred for shorter-style RP, but I'm flexible. Happy to go all-in on prose for PSLs/more descriptive threads in general.
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: Nothing specific. I'm more than comfortable with heavy themes, but I'll be certain to let you know if you over-step a line with me. Please be aware that while Clarissa is hardly an edgy or tragic muse, she's Gone Through A Lot of Shit and there are several potentially triggering themes present in her character and story. You can find her CWs and Opt-out post over here. I encourage you to give it a read over and to use it if necessary.
OUT OF CHARACTER
BACKTAGGING: I'm on the slower side and am not always around at the right times to boomerang, so it's something of a must with me, but I'm happy to shelve threads that have passed their expiration date so that we can work on something new.
THREADHOPPING: Please check with myself and the other player first (unless it's super silly meme shenanigans).
FOURTHWALLING: I don't mind a little tongue-in-cheek humour now and again, but unless your muse is Deadpool or one of the characters from Gintama, please keep it to a minimum.
NOT INTERESTED IN: Easy fixes, whether to material issues such as Clarissa's malfunctioning cybernetics, or to her trauma. I enjoy characters working through their problems--you can't always smooth over years of harm with a single heartfelt speech or gesture, and recovery isn't always linear. Powered-character dick measuring contests aren't much fun for me either: I enjoy in-character conflict but only if the focus stays on, you know, writing a fun scene that's fulfilling for both players.
IN CHARACTER
PHYSICAL AFFECTION: You might wind up on your back with your shoulder dislocated unless you're someone Clarissa is well-familiar with. And even then it's bound to be awkward. She could use a good hug, but she's much more accustomed to people trying to stick a knife into her back.
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Oh sure, bring it. Clarissa's electric-based Dynamo power lends her the ability to heal, as well as create energy shields and strengthen her musculoskeletal structure for a short time. As well as...you know...shock people. She's a tough cookie to crush, but she's rusty on her combat training and takes pretty poor care of herself, so she's rarely firing on all cylinders these days. She can absolutely be brought down with enough force, but be wary of letting her build up her surges, as her power and speed rise with her adrenaline.
If we're going to write a fight scene then I'd appreciate keeping communications open OOC to talk limits and coordinate, but I'm most always up for writing some good action set-pieces, and Clarissa's regenerative abilities mean I'm open to seeing her get fucked up. Just no removal of limbs, please.
RELATIONSHIPS: Clarissa is bisexual and open to partners of any gender. Considering that she's in her late 30s I'd prefer to ship with characters 25 or over. That's not an absolute limit but established adults, certainly.
Clarissa is open to casual dating, hook-ups, and other low-commitment messing around, but can be trickier to convince into entering into a serious relationship. She's experienced some traumas that have left her physically and emotionally (and digitally) fucked up and she's reluctant to open old wounds to let another person in...or to burden their own life with her troubles as a wanted ex-space terrorist with a twisted mirror labyrinth inside her head.
PSYCHIC & PSIONIC INFORMATION: Attention, all robot players! The Dynamo power allows Clarissa to discern a wealth of information about machines either by passing a current through them directly (hand-to-surface contact) or simply by being close enough for them to enter the range of her Dynamo field, the electromagnetic field that surrounds Clarissa at all times.
This information can include their power level or rate of operation, and for sentient machines, basic information on their mental/emotional state. For example, she can sense when your processors are working overtime and determine that you're severely stressed-out, but she can't actively read your mechanical minds or data.
Psychics will have a field day with Clarissa's mind since many of her memories and experiences are segmented from the rest of her Self with electronic implants throughout her brain. Depending on whether your character's power allows them to parse electronics or data, either Clarissa's memories and mental readings are scrambled to the point of near indecipherability by chunks of empty nothingness...or they'll be able to feel a malicious second presence lurking in the digitised depths of Clarissa's artificial brain. Beware the Magician's Labyrinth.
For reasons that are unclear (but certainly linked to Clarissa's own power), exposure to foreign psychic energy can induce headaches or nausea...and at the extremes, nosebleeds, disorientation, and potentially unconsciousness.
MAGICAL INFORMATION: Dynamo isn't magic, it's elemental power with a psychic bent to it, but what is magic, really, if not just another source of power? Magic users may be able to sense Clarissa's abilities, but I'll leave that to player discretion. Her abilities cannot be suppressed by Silence type abilities or similar (*unless dictated by the mechanics in a game setting, of course), as they are a direct physiological function of Clarissa's body.
MEDICAL INFORMATION: Clarissa can use her Dynamo power to heal her body from injuries, including those that would otherwise kill a regular person. However, her power is finite and the more that she uses in one go, the longer it takes for her body to recover from the strain and for her energy levels to rejuvenate. Being pushed to her absolute limits can leave her weakened for days after the fact. And the fact she takes very poor care of herself means she's rarely in top running order.
Her sleep schedule (or lack thereof) is a horrific mess and she chronically overworks herself, pouring herself into her projects to avoid facing her dysfunctional wreck of a life. She stays awake for days on end, eating very little and subsisting on nothing more than caffeine and the occasional energy bar. She's collapsed from exhaustion in her workshop more than once. Her mental health is bad and her coping mechanisms lacking, even before considering that her mind is split into ill-fitted pieces thanks to an incongruence in her cybernetics, and that one of those pieces hosts a version of her that wants her dead and torments her with hallucinations and nightmares that feel physically tangible. No wonder she doesn't sleep much.
Her weight frequently fluctuates, dropping rapidly when she's particularly stressed or distracted for any period of time. Her Dynamo power is energy-intensive and Clarissa doesn't always eat enough to sustain it, since she finds food to be an inconvenience in part thanks to her dulled sense of taste and smell.
Importantly, she has an synthetic spine as well as cybernetics in her brain, installed following a catastrophic falling injury that ruptured her spinal cord and left her with brain damage.
